You Can Easily Make Hip-Hop Beats

Hip-hop beats are popular among a wide range of people. A lot of people will say 'down with country' or that rap and techno are too much, but hip-hop has been known to get approval from almost everyone it touches.

Hip-hop doesn't make you cringe a bit in embarrassment if other people happen to hear it. It also isn't obnoxious to the point where you can only listen to it once every blue moon.

When you make beats, keep in mind that hip-hop is exciting, hip-hop is attention-catching, and best of all hip-hop is always bringing us something new.

So take advantage of its universalism and prepare yourself for the fun world of beat creation. To make beats is not only fun, it can also be rewarding on a number of levels. You're increasing your skills in a well appreciated category of the music industry, but you also have a wide range of artists that you can pattern your own style after. To make beats may be more involved than making rap beats, but the rewards and the overall principles are the same.

You get a sound, make variations every now and then to fit in with the climax and chorus of the lyrics, and then just have at it.

Pretty simple, right? To make beats, all you need is imagination and your software should do the rest.

I know what you're thinking. Software is expensive, software is hard to understand, and (my favorite one of all) you have to know what you're doing in order to get the full use out of any software.

Those are all practical concerns, but only if you don't pick out the right program.

To create beats is easy when you make smart decisions and, once you open up your chosen program for the first time, things can get even better.
After you've panned, isolated each track sound, grouped tracks, and made sure that you avoid distortion, then you pretty much have the process down to a science as those will be the most difficult things that you'll need to do.

Try thinking of it like this. When you create beats you're making the audio version of a work of art. There are a number of individual levels that you can focus on to make the overall product sound as advanced as possible. When you make hip-hop beats and you're juggling more than one aspect, you want an interface that is light and easy to use, but that allows you to do everything that you want it to.

The perfect program to create beats will require research; but if you're ever in doubt, then you can always fall back on a program like Dub Turbo. Though honestly, should you do just that, you could do much worse.

Hip Hop Music - Producing a Classic

Hip hop is a genre of music that has many enthusiasts today, for a hip hop song to hit it has to be simply incredible. Everyone can compose Hip Hop music today but to completely come up with a hit well produced it will prove a challenge. You can make your own hit in the comfort of your home if you study the stages involved. Hip hop artists like the late Tupac Shakur, Krazzie Bone, Dr Dre and Outkast are artists whose music has been successful thanks to the production skills incorporated.

The first stage of making Hip Hop music a hit is to understand the beats. Beats are basically what makes up most of the song, as you make them you need to be careful. With a complete studio and all the necessary equipment, making a hit can be easy.

You have to listen to lots of music in order to come up with a unique piece. Do not restrict your self to hip hop only; you might get ideas from the other genres of songs. Sound and style of production is important, do not rely on the usual styles of other producers, and make your style outstanding. The trends and styles of producing Hip Hop music are changing, and this will determine the kind of hit you are gong to produce. You need to network with other hip hop label representatives and producers, its all about outsourcing for ideas. To get a great hit you have to work with a talented artist. As a producer and songwriter you will have to ensure that the notes and vocal ranges work well with the artist.

After the songwriting the other important part of hip hop is the beat structure. An emcee has to keep up with the beat structure or else the whole song will fail. The lyrics and beats have to synchronize such that the artist can move easily from one note to the other. The lyrical skill should be complimented by the beat.

If you are going for a West Coast style of hit production you have to incorporate instrumentals, heavy bass, bass drops and a sine wave. The techniques will vary depending on the style you choose It is, however, important to keep the harmony steady in your production. Creating a bass line is very important, you need to ensure that you do it systematically. The funky bass lines used these days make music interesting and more captivating.

You need to create melodies, you can do this by either using strings or flutes, and any smooth sound will definitely add pomp to your song. With this it will be easy for you to set the tone for your piece. Fill sounds are perfect if you want to balance your song. The mix in your song should be well balanced such that there are no glitches and empty spaces. To ensure clarity in the song you are producing look out for the accuracy of lows, mids and highs.

Don't Make Hip-Hop Beats Online

Beats, especially hip-hop beats, can be used in a lot of different ways. The usual place you'll find them is over the radio. Whether they're being sung by your favorite artist are danced to at the club, hip-hop has a huge impact on your day to day life whether you realize it or not.

Your peers most likely learned some of the more interesting words in their vocabulary from hip-hop music, and the girl or guy you like probably picked out their outfit for the day based on the music video they saw the day before.

Then of course, there is advertising. Hip-hop beats are most quickly spread through the commercials, theme songs, and tag lines that make up most of the advertising efforts that you know about. In fact, the next time that you watch television or listen to the radio, count how many of the commercials and ads have taken some aspect of hip-hop music and integrated it into their marketing plan.

When you do that, you should more than likely divide that number by half. At that point you'll have an accurate guess as to just how many of the creators of the ads and commercials decided to make beats online rather than waiting around in a studio just to get the same effect.

Surprisingly, when you make hip-hop beats online, the quality of the beat itself isn't that great. Even so, it isn't just a happy coincidence that people weren't able to make beats online that sounded good. It took skill and the right equipment to pull it off.

So far, it's likely that you only have one of those things.

Meaning that while you have plenty of skill, there's no way to showcase it because you did the same thing that a lot of other people in your situation did as well, which was buying the first DI software that seemed like it would do the job and then gone on from there. Unfortunately, if you're trying to make an impression when you make hip-hop beats online, you have to buy the kind of software that blows other programs out of the water.

That's why DUBTurbo is around. One day you'll want to be able to turn on the television or radio and hear your beats being played through the speakers. One day you'll want your friends dressing up and talking like the lyrics to the song that held your beats, and one day you'll want to buy a can of deodorant that was advertised to music that you helped to create. All of which are things that could happen easily when you make hip-hop beats online and finally realize just how much talent you were hiding behind software that just wasn't good enough.

Hip Hop Music Internship

The hip hop music industry is one that is complicated. On one side, there are many self-made men in the industry. There are men who know how it is to be dirt poor, how it is to be striving to be noticed by record labels, men who would give everything to acquire a bigger audience. On the flip side, there are men who have all the best in the world. They drink the most expensive champagne, wear the most over the top jewelry, wear the most flamboyant outfits, and brag about their riches in every line or two of all their songs. The truth is, the hip hop music industry is still quite fresh and there are still a lot of changes that are going on within it. One thing that is sure, however, is that you cannot land a job in the music industry, especially in the hip hop music industry, without having real life experience. The good news is, there are a lot of companies and web sites that offer hip hop music internship to any one who is willing to learn and to be mentored. This is very important especially for someone who has yet to join the work force because it has been known that companies hire people who have had real life experiences when it comes to tasks in the music industry.

So how can hip hop music internship help you? In many ways. Being an intern can actually teach you the basics about the industry. You can learn the terms of the trade, what the vibe is, how deals are made, and how transactions are done. You also get to have a bigger connection pool, and this is always a good thing for anybody, in any industry. The key here is asking for tasks that would require more effort and more time for you. This will not keep you on your toes but will also help you to constantly learn new things about the industry.

This will definitely help you land a job in the music industry as a buffed up resume filled with real life tasks and real life accomplishments will definitely look very good to any employer. The rationale behind this is pretty easy to understand. It would definitely be more costly to train somebody new than to hire somebody who already knows how the industry goes and what is required of his task. This is why it is often recommended to fresh graduates to hold off looking for some employment and actually look for places to hold their hip hop music internship. This will give them more experience and maybe even more power to negotiate their salaries. If you do not mind giving in some time in exchange for a buffed up resume and real life learning then interning for a good company is always a good option.

Remember, landing that dream job is all about presenting yourself as somebody who is an asset to the company. Gather some industry know-how through an excellent hip hop music internship and get ready to land the perfect job for you.

Eugene Sturdivant is the CEO of www.StreetDreamerZ.com, an online project oriented entrepreneurship program that gives everyone a chance in training and real-world experience in the music industry. This site offers a project-based curriculum that teaches you on starting up your own music business and making it big in the long run. In this company, you can gain an excellent dose of hip hop music internship.

Top 10 Hip Hop Albums of 2010

Although 2010 isn't over quite yet with a few big releases expected before the new year (Kanye West's "Good A** Job," "My Beautiful, Dark, Twisted Fantasy," and also a full album with Jay-Z) I thought I could do a round up of the top Hip Hop albums so far.

10) Lil' Wayne - I am Not a Human Being:

What year would be complete without a release from the prolific Lil' Wayne? While I'm not a big fan of Weezy's new stuff (this album included), I have to respect the following that he has established for himself. His work ethic, releasing a new mixtape practically every week it seems, is a lesson for all rappers trying to break into the game-the more you put yourself out there, the greater your returns.

9) Rick Ross - Teflon Don:

Another big release this past summer was Rick Ross' Teflon Don. Yet another album that, though it may not be his best, is worth noting for its effect on the Hip Hop world. Two tracks by producer Lex Lugar made the final album and started a scramble to get this young producer's sound on all new Trap albums

8) Chiddy Bang - The Preview:

A new name on the Hip Hop charts this year, Chiddy Bang broke onto the scene with their track "Opposite of Adults." Chalk this up as another rap album for college kids as the tracks have widespread appeal for casual rap fans. A feature by Q-Tip on an electro, 8-bit track gives this album some street cred as well.

7) Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot:

As half of Outkast, you know thatany album that Big Boi releases is going to be pushing the boundaries of the genre. However, once again, Big Boi accomplishes this while staying true to the roots of the genre and creating catchy tunes throughout.

6) 9th Wonder - It's a Wonderful World Music Group, Vol 1:

Legendary producer 9th Wonder has just released a compilation album with features from Skyzoo, Actual Proof and 9th himself. As you would expect, the album is chock full of real hip hop music, bangin' beats, and tight rhymes.

5) Nas and Damian Marley - Distant Relatives:

In my opinion, one of the best collaboration albums in Hip Hop history, this album is a journey through both Hip Hop and Reggae. Organic and creative beats, catchy hooks, and undoubtedly well-written rhymes make this album an instant classic.

4) Celph Titled and Buckwild - Nineteen Ninety Now:

Like 9th Wonder, Buckwild is one of those legends of Hip Hop production. So when he releases an album, real Hip Hop heads pay attention. His latest release with Celph Titled is true to form. Conscious rhymes over hard drums, back by well-flipped samples.

3) B.O.B. - The Adventures of Bobby Ray (Deluxe):

"Nothin On You," "Magic," "Past My Shades," and "Airplanes." Need I say more? With some of the best tracks of 2010, no list would be complete without BOB.

2) Eminem - Recovery:

Finally, a good album from Eminem post breakdown. This album brings us back to the days of old. Eminem's flow is on point as always, but the rhymes are once again talking about stuff that matters, while the hooks are still catchy.

1) Drake - Thank Me Later:

It's not every year that one of the most innovative Hip Hop albums is also one of the most commercially successful. Rapper/singer Drake's Thank Me Later is one of those rare occurrences. With a majority of the beat's produced by fellow Canadian Noah "40" Shebib, the sound was both unique and catchy. And Drake's clever one liners and catchy hooks were the perfect compliment.

Good Hip Hop Music - Tips to Get the Right Groove

Good Hip-Hop Music has a typical regular rhythmic pattern with clear vocals on the top of the beat. To get the hit, treat your song seriously to blend into the right sounding groove and harmonize with the drum pattern.

If you are beginner, try to quantify the templates available in sequencers. Through this method, you can achieve the right amount of grooves and apply it to your tracks.

The right hip-hop sounding grooves are usually based on 16th notes. The percentage of the swing value could influence the tempo.

The range of the swing value is between 57%-83%. At the range of 100%, the sounding groove would push the 16th notes to the preceding 8th notes. If the swing value is 50%, you get straight 16th notes. When you cross the swing value to 57%, the groove begins to relax. At ca.70percentage, you succeed the classic Hip-Hop sound.

If you like to create a variation and a unique sounding groove, try this.

Create a kick at 1 and 3 plus claps on 2 and 4 on a standard 4/4-drum pattern. Then, fix the grid to 24 and insert a kick anywhere on the grid. Play it back. Move the kick around until it satisfies your ear. If you insert another kick while moving it around could produce a variety of Hip-Hop groove combination.

Another method to get a great groove is quantifying the kick drums on the 24th note quantify divisor and the rest of the elements on 4th, 8th and 16th notes. It grooves well when all the 6 values between the quarter notes on the 24th note grid are offset against claps on 2 and 4. Avoid adding a kick on 2 or 4.

Hopefully, these little tips will help your Hip-Hop music production blend into the great sounding groove. Enjoy and get producing hip-hop!

Grace is a musician and arranger. In this article she likes to share how to produce Hip-Hop music. Unlike other genres, the vocals in Hip-Hop music

should sound clearly on top of the beat.

To get the right style, it is important to create the right groove and the perfect drum patterns.

Hip-hop music is the vehicle of hip-hop culture and contains "rapping" (superimposed with vocals) by emcees. Owing to this, hip-hop music is sometimes referred to as "rap music," However, those who dismiss hip-hop as rap music do not comprehend its rich history and the influence this genre of music has on youth culture.

Hip-hop music is a vehicle used by the singers to address racism, oppression, and poverty issues. It narrates tales of inner city African-Americans living the American dream (through hard work, courage and determination one can achieve prosperity) from the bottom up, and bitterly touches upon racial discrimination, broken homes, and overcoming adversity.

Invented by Jamaican migrant DJ Kool Herc in the early 70s in New York City, it has since then spread its tentacles across the world. Herc shifted from reggae records to funk, rock and disco. Owing to the short percussive breaks, he began extending them using an audio mixer and two records. As the unique style of music became a hit, performers (emcees) began superimposing the music with vocals; initially, they introduced themselves and others in the audience. Later, the rapping became more diverse, incorporating brief rhymes, often with a sexual or violent theme, in an attempt to entertain the audience.

In the mid-1970s, hip-hop split into two groups. One focused on getting the crowd dancing, another highlighted rapid-fire rhymes. The 1980s witnessed further diversification in hip-hop; highly metaphoric lyrics rapping over multi-layered beats replaced simple vocals. In the 90s, gangsta rap (glorified outlaw lifestyle) became mainstream. Hip-hop was soon an integral part of mainstream music, and nearly all the pop songs featured an underlying element of hip-hop.

In the 90s and into the following decade, elements of hip-hop were integrated into diverse genres of music: hip-hop soul combined hip-hop and soul music; in the Dominican Republic, a recording by Santi Y Sus Duendes and Lisa M was coined "Meren-rap," a fusion of hip-hop and meringue. In Europe, Africa, and Asia, hip-hop has undergone a transition from an underground occurrence to the mainstream market.

Hip Hop Music Songs

Hip hop music songs are all over the internet, giving rap fans the ability to dig deeper than ever into this expanding genre. Here's how you can download free hip hop music songs and videos from new and old school artists who've topped the charts.

The first place I recommend is Jamendo. On their site, you can search by license and musical style. The former is helpful if you want beats to use for your own music. If you want to search for music you can reuse, search for tracks that allow you to modify, build or adapt and use commercially (if you intend to sell your music). If you aren't looking for royalty free beats, the site still provides a large selection of hip hop songs for you to peruse. The selection really is incredible.

An online radio station with a great selection of rap artists is Pandora. I use this site religiously to find out about new music. You can create your own radio station by telling Pandora to search for a specific genre, artist or keyword. For example, you can build a station based on Nas, and Pandora offers up a list of related artists and songs that are related to Nas (both musically and lyrically). As each song is played you can vote it up or down, and Pandora will shift its selections based on your preferences. I can't explain how many new artists I've found though this service.

Hip hop music songs are discussed passionately on numerous rap forums, and are a great place to learn more. Most forums such as RapBeats and AllHipHop have sections that discuss new music. Post a few of your favorite artists and see what others recommend.

Another great place is YouTube. My buddy started using this to play background music at a party, which we connected to his TV. It's like having your own personal MTV at all times! Frankly, I was suprised at the number of old school and popular chart topping videos it offered. Of course, you do have to change the songs yourself, but the video selection is like no other online!

These four websites all provide new songs and videos constantly, which helps you stay informed about the hottest new songs out there. For those interested in hip hop music songs and videos, you can't go wrong with these sources.

Hip Hop Music - Hip Hop Is Alive

What has happened to hip hop music? I have seen a disgraceful turn for the worse on my tv screen, but let's review some real hip hop music.

We will stick to only albums dropped recently. Of course, I highly recommend of all of these albums. I'm not going to criticize any of the albums. Simply because there is already a million people who have done so - with or without justification.

Let's get started with the "Conscience Rapper" Common. I wish we didn't have to use that particular terminology to categorize the rapper because all rappers should be conscience. It is basically the definition of hip-hop.

Common - Finding Forever

From the incredible "unforgivable" all the way to the radio smash hits, "The People" and "The Game" (no similarity to the west coast rapper at all) ", this album is worth your purchase.

Common puts together rhymes like a puzzle. Each piece being essential as the last. He uses intricate rhyme schemes, but still gets his point across in the most immaculate manner.

Common exchanges punchlines with Kayne West on "Southside". My favorite collaboration between the two; up until this point. Kayne also produces this track as he does most of the album. West spits at the top of his game while spitting lyrics e.g. "I know you must be thinking its armorall flow because it never gets rusty". Common on the other hand spits amazing lyrics himself, for example: "Your career was a typo, mine was written like a haiku."

Though Common never comes out and blames the south for hip-hops decline ( that he mentions a multitude of times) the following lyric from "Start the Show" could be subject to misinterpretation, "You sing along wit it, inside you knowin it's wack, Young who? I don't need a openin act". Common never backs down from a fight. He also mentions the lack of hip-hop spirit in the song "The Game".

Is this Common's best work? I don't know. I personally like it better then his last album. Be had a completely different ambience to it though. I guess, we should give credit to Kayne.

I know this album could be perceived to have a few lackadaisical songs. Unlike fox news, I do give the other side. A counter perspective is available at Nobodysmiling [http://www.nobodysmiling.com/hiphop/album_review/87760.php]

Talib Kweli - Ear Drum

Talib's recent effort has sixteen tracks that will fulfill any fans need for another album from the rap superstar.

He spits some of his most intellectual and deep thinking lyrics to date in "Ear Drum".

Electrify one of the most soulful tracks on "Ear Drum" is perfectly titled as it does electrify you. Especially your mind as most of the album does.

The guests help the momentum of the album more than they hurt it. Demonstrated in songs like "Hostile Gospel" with Bun B and Pimp C, who seem to fit in very well in the banger by Just Blaze.

If Talib had to take it back to square one. I'm talking about the hip-hop classic "Reflection Eternal". He definitely took a few paces in the right direction.

I'll finish the review by saying that the album isn't perfect, but perfection is in the beholder.

Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth

Brother Ali probably would get his mic cut off by Bill O Reilly with his very open minded views on America. Actually more times than less, pessimistic views.

A "Letter From The Government" basically denounces the entire war. Ali blatantly states in the chorus, "I got a letter from the government the other day I opened and read and burned that man, The way that I live don't concern that man, We gon' have to settle this another way". I guess he might also be talking about any possibility of a draft and his reaction. Maybe just a letter asking him to join the military. Nevertheless, one of the most intriguing songs that has been released this year.

The underground artist doesn't stop there with his attitude towards America. Yes, his home country. On the track "Freedom ain't free". He annihilates our foreign policies. Especially when it comes to people who are starving in other countries. "So I use blood and sweat to butter my bread, Cos this cold world couldn't give a fuck if I'm fed".

If you are a liberal, you will probably take well to this album. He doesn't like the war, he doesn't like our foreign policies, and he doesn't like how Muslims are being treated. He claims to be a devout Muslim in a few tracks.

If this album doesn't make you sit back and think. You might want to get your brain examined.

El P - I'll Sleep When I'm Dead

Honestly. What can I say about this album that hasn't been repeated a million times. This is a monster underground album. One of the biggest in the history of hip-hop. You haven't heard of it? Funny, isn't it? If you like Mike Jones, I suggest you don't check out this album, if you're a real hip-hop fan, it's a must!

Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead

I don't think anyone else has said this, but hip-hop needed this album. Not because it has the best work by my man Nas, but because we needed the history lesson. I learned a lot from this album, I didn't even know.

It also gave me the motivation to go back and play some of those old albums. How much dust does your "Mc Shan" records have on them?

We need to remember our roots, which is a perfect segway for my next album.

The Roots - Game Theory

The Roots put together an album that flows together like Rakim and Eric B.

You won't skip a track on this cd. I can guarantee you that. Black Thought's not even at the top of his game. Am I the only one who finds that unbelievably scary?

The Roots are breaking ground in hip-hop. Although it's underground in general, It's ultimately refreshing.

Ghost Face - More Fish + Fishscale

I am absolutely exhilarated to get all this new Ghostface material. Though he has never been type to take a break from rapping. He comes back, probably full fledged with these two near classic albums.

Still spitting as mean as you would expect. If you want to learn to be an emcee. Study every move of Ghostface.

Killah Priest - The Offering

Though the album isn't officially out. It did leak. I have heard nothing but positive reviews. I think this might be his best work to date.

The album also features some great artists like Canibus, Ras Kass, Kurupt, and Immortal Technique.

Canibus - For Whom The Beat Tolls

I might take some heat for including this album in my list, but Canibus returns to his old self. I couldn't be happier. He is still one of the best lyricists in the game. Never demonstrated better than on his 400 bar track, "Poet Laureate Infinity".

Canibus is known for being ruthless, but has some fun on the album, on "Dreamzzz", Biz raps about having sex with a female news anchor. He even mentions her name Soledad O'Brien who previously hosted "American Morning". She was taken off because of low ratings, though she still works for Cnn on other endeavours. (By the way, firefox's spell check can be quite annoying, I know the word endeavours is spelled correctly). It's a pretty hilarious dream, but that's about where the games stop for the album.

He spits with a vocabulary that would make Websters jealous throughout the rest of the album and punchlines that will knock you back.

Nothing seems more spectacular than his deep tracks like "Layered Prayers", "One Ought Not To Think, and "Father Author Poor Pauper", where he takes on a series of issues, including war, poverty, ignorance, and his career.

A must have album for any Canibus fan. Cross that - an album created for you.

Jay Z - Kingdom Kong

Jay Z brings a mature album. Honestly, well for the most part. You might get confused on a few tracks, specifically ones with singer Usher and Beyonce.

The Reasonable Doubt author might not be at the top of his game lyrically after his brief hiatus, but he is still one of the best emcees in the game. This album will prove it. I won't waste time with quotes, I have to many.

Ludacris - Release Therapy

One of the most outrageous and hilarious artists in the history of hip-hop brings an exceptional album. I still can't get use to this Ludacris because he is so much different then when he arrived in the game. But I would be missing out if I didn't.

Do your time with beanie sigal is an amazing song about friends being locked up.

Everything is seriously outshined by "runaway love" with Mary J. Blige doing the chorus. Rather than explain the entire premise, I'll allow you to check out the wikipedia entry located at Ludacris - Runaway Love

Ludacris also raps about starting a record label, being a man, and talks about girls like only Luda can.

What more can I say? It's Luda, Luda!

Pharaoh Monch - Desire

Why isn't this on my radio station? A powerful album to say the least.

Let's go is one of the most creative songs, I have heard in a while. He uses puns throughout the entire song. Basically taunting us all.

Nothing compares to Trilogy though, one of the most impeccable songs in recent memory. I can't even explain it, Pharaoh makes the song come to life. I'm not even exaggerating. Check it out and see.

For a sophomore album and still room to grow. The man is doing damn good, in my opinion.

Bone Thugs N Harmony - Thug Stories

I'm kidding.

Bone Thugs N Harmony - Strength Loyalty

Unfortunately Bizzy didn't make the trip to Bones best album since 99's classic eternal 99.

The album has bangers, gangster, and love songs (Bone Thug Style). The guests all do an exceptional job working with their own talents.

Bow Wow and Mariah Carey give a Lil Love to Bone Thugs and come up with a good second single.

Akon contributes to two tracks, "I Tried, and "Never Forget Me". He brings them tracks from pretty good to definitely good.

The game does his thing on "Streets".

Maybe nothing more impressive then "Twista" bringing the heat with his rivals on C-Town. They get gangster like only the chi can.

Though Bones best work might come when they are solo. Wind Blow which samples "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, is a stand out track on the album.

The promotion was better then latter efforts, but I still don't think the masses know about this album. Please, check it out, if you haven't heard.

Lupe Fiasco - Food And Liquor

Lupe is one, if not the most original artist to come out in at least four years.

His rhymes schemes, concepts, and unforceful personality really make this album a must have.

Lupe lyrically isn't arrogant, ignorant, or materialistic. The opposite of everything out right now.

I am looking for fresh faces in hip-hop and this is definitely one I want to see. Bad news. He said he is going to retire after three albums, but who trusts hip-hop artists?

His protege Jay Z who handles himself quite well on the track "Pressure" that he features on, would know about not keeping promises. Jay Z said he was going to retire after his 03 cd "Black Album". I feel as though we have already mentioned him in this article? Must be another Jay Z.

By the way, the extremely young (early 20's) Lupe Fiasco, avoids being outshined considerably by the rap veteran. An almost remarkable feat considering the way Jay Z has been killing guest spots as of late.

I can't even tell you my favorite tracks on this near classic. I'm just looking forward to "The Cool", Lupes next album, which was recently delayed until December of this year.

Field Mob - Light Poles And Pine Trees

Ludacris picked up a great group with talent. I would assume this is the most slept on album of 06.

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass

Bits and pieces of this album are appearing all over the Internet. Please keep an eye out for it.

Obie Trice - Second Rounds On Me

Lyrically Obie Trice is beyond most emcees out today. If you like real ghetto lyrics,I suggest you check out this record.

He is underrated while most of shady records is overrated like a Bush Gallop poll. Damn. I am offending the Gop today.

Don't worry. I'll be bashing hip-hop's support of Barack at some point.

I think that's going to wrap it up for this column. It's getting extremely late, this article is getting extremely long, and I'm getting extremely tired. Extremely makes a great adjective. If you read this entire article, you're even enlightened or bored out of your mind. Thanks either or, I appreciate it. You will appreciate it more after you BUY a few of them albums. Peace, Love, and all that stuff that got Martin killed. One.

Ps, feel free to redistribute this article in anyway you see fit.

Hip Hop Music Production Tips

If you are looking for options, you will appreciate hip hop music production. Live vocals, turn tables, samplers, live instrumentals, online beat makers, synthesizers and more can all be used.

Hip hop production refers to all areas of the creation and production of hip hop music. When you are creating instrumentals for a beat, you are acting in the job of the producer. Making instrumentals is the main activity of a the producer. This is usually called a beat, and the producer is often labeled the beat maker.

The fascinating thing that has happened more recently are advancements in technology. This is eliminating the job of the producer in hip hop music production. Working in the job of producer, musicians are now recording their own beats. The newer the musician is, the quicker they adopt this technology.

The modern beat making software does everything that a traditional hip hop music producer did three times over. Young and new artists are finding that they can create everything from the instrumentals, to recording the vocals, and the mixing and mastering of their track right from the comfort of their own place of residence. And at a fraction of the cost!

For less than thirty dollars, you can buy your own hip hop music production application right off the web. For this low price even the greatest tricks and functions are there for the beginning producer. In addition, having access to great support networks and internet training means that even someone who has no knowledge of generating beats can immediately start producing their own music today.

This is causing a bit of a ruckus in the industry as I am sure you can see. But still, there are some basics to producing that every me-too self-producer should know.

The drums create the basic support of any hip hop beat. The speed and difficulty of the drum beat will dictate the pace and impact of the production itself. Everything is built on the drums. So try to keep them simple when you begin or you could encounter issues!

You can create your own drum beat with beat maker software, or download one created by somebody else. Of course this is based on your ability to make a great beat. Many musicians create their own beats after first working with a download.

The easiest way to get going with hip hop music is to begin with the basics and slowly improve. After you have a drum beat you are satisfied with, you need to improve the percussion and the sampling elements of your track. These are both necessary elements of a great original beat.

Whether your hip hop music production is for producing your own tracks, or you are a producer looking for another way into the industry, there are great options out there for everybody. But to get started, you need to acquire a good beat maker software.

The Sonic Producer is definitely one software you want to consider.

This application provides affordable and efficient features that can help anyone from an absolute beginner to the seasoned expert.

What to Look Out For When Making Hip Hop Music Beats

A music producer's biggest challenge is coming up with new and creative hip hop music beats for his or her music. As such, I spent a lot of time reading up and collecting softwares that were supposed to allow me to create really cool beats. However, most software is pretty complicated and they don't really live up to expectations.

Hip Hop Music Beats

After testing numerous softwares, I realized that there are certain elements that will make or break your beats. These 3 elements are:

1) Drums - The most important part of a beat is the drums, and your software should have some type of hard hitting or low-end boom that will make people want to get up and party. It should also have the 'thumping' effect and not sound hollow.

2) Sound Effects - This is another crucial area you want to pay close attention to when looking around for the right software. Most softwares have various types of sound effects, just make sure you have the right type of effects for your project. Most of them provide free samples of their sounds, so take your time to listen to them before making a decision.

3) Snare - The snare could also be extremely important. The snare drum can give your beat a good groove, and can make or break your music. There are plenty of ways to use a snare, just go with the rhythm and let your creative juices flow.

Other than the 3 factors above, the next thing you should look for when making your own hip hop music beats is the price of the software. Make sure that it is within your budget, and it has all the features that you require. Don't pay too much for professional softwares when you don't need it yet.

WARNING: If you use this beat making software, you might get addicted and not leave home for many days. Not only is it super user-friendly, the beats you churn out will amaze both yourself and also your friends.

Visit http://mybeatmakingsoftware.net to learn how you can produce your own beats today!

Hip Hop Music Beats - How to Create Them to Rap Over

Hip hop music beats use to be a sort of black arts for me. I spent the better half of the 1990's collecting gear and book after book that allegedly was made to teach me how to lay down some phat beats. I spent upwards of 10K dollars in search of the "secret combination" of gear that would allow my creative juices to flow. I had only assumed that if there's something you don't have the talent to do... just throw some more money at it until it clicks. Obviously there's some faulty logic going in here, as I'd gotten pretty far in debt and still couldn't lay down a decent instrumental.

Here is some of the "industry standard" gear that I had accumulated. Don't get me wrong, these tools are an important part of many studios... but these days most of them are completely redundant or unnecessary.

Sampler: The centerpiece of creating all hip hop music beats
Synthesizer: Much of the melodic lines came from these bad boys
Sequencer: Let's you compose your beats...often redundant as many samplers have one built in
Mixer: I'm not talking about a DJ mixer either..I'm talking about a piece of gear that will let the sampler, synth, and sequencer plug into, and the sound gets mixed into a stereo source.
Multi-Track Recorder: This is what will record the hip hop music beats.

These are the basics of the "old school" hip hop music beats studio.

Funny thing is, these days all this gear is completely unneeded. As long as you have a decent computer, you can lay down some pretty chunky sounding beats. Hip hop music beats shouldn't cost your entire life savings to make...how could you possibly enjoy cranking out some crunk while worrying that your latest purchase won't put food in your baby's mouth?

Believe it or not, I spend a all my time looking for the best tools to create phat beats. Now I make more beats than I know what to do with! For more information on how to craft the ultimate hip hop beats.

Hip Hop Music Videos Online

Hip Hop music videos certainly have their own flavor; from party tracks like "Fight For Your Right To Party" to the bubble lenses of Busta Rhymes "Got Ya'll in Check" the style is undeniable. Here's a review of the best websites to watch hip hop music videos for free, download new tracks from award winning rap artists, and essentially run your own MTV from your home computer...

AOL Music is the premier player when it comes to music videos online. Their hip hop selection is on point and is frequently updated, along with a New Artist section to help you stay on top of the biggest rap artists in the game today. AOL's site is easy to use, with clean navigation and fast download times. While it covers mainstream hip hop videos really well, it is lacking in the underground department, which brings us to our next website...

UndergroundHipHop. If you're into the underground scene, they've got you covered on videos. You can find top quality rappers like MF Doom, Aesop Rock and Blackalicious and their video releases, even their early stuff or DVD only specials (not to mention live material). The reviews on this site read like a rap battle, which comes in handy when searching by ratings- there aren't any easy stars here!

Looking for Southern hip hop videos? Check out VideoCure. While this site features videos for all genres, it's Dirty South section is without rival anywhere (it currently has close to 750 Dirty South videos; that's a lot of crunk!). Another nice feature is that MySpace users can add the videos to their page with the click of a button... no code knowledge required.

MusicVideoRap plays fast uncensored hip hop music videos. If you don't like to download music- or your computer takes too long- they offer streaming videos which load quickly and don't take any space on your computer. This site offers the same features as those on other sites (such as new releases, most popular, etc.) but what sets them apart is the selection of freestyle videos and the large number of articles on up and coming artists, music video production, music reviews and underground rap tours.

So what do these online sites mean for television channels like MTV? Will these stations beat out TV when it comes to offering quality hip hop music videos? I think it's just a matter of time; online competitors can focus on narrower markets such as the Dirty South or underground and still make a profit, whereas television has to remain more mainstream in order to keep a hold on the market. These websites will provide hours of entertainment and help you find new rap and hip hop artists, download videos and post reviews about what you like and dislike.

Hip Hop Music Production - 3 Essentials For Producing Your Own Hip Hop Music

The Hip hop music production of today uses drum machines, samplers, online beat makers, live instrumentals, samplers, live vocals, sequences, and synthesizers. If you can imagine it, you can probably use it. This genre of music includes all the various processes that go into the production of the music. As a producer, your role is to assemble the instrumentals of each track.

Putting together a hip hop instrumental is an art form what the hip hop music producer is known for. This is typically called the beat, while in the role of producer you are known as the beat maker. The biggest change that is now happening in the industry is that advancing technology which is eliminating the job of producer in hip hop music production.

The good news for Rap and Hip Hop artists is that today artists themselves are now taking of the production of the entire hip hop beat. For new and emerging artists this is even more so. The new age of beat making applications can do three times more than anything a retired hip hop producer could do.

Young and happening artists are discovering they can create anything from laying down vocal tracks, to creating instrumentals, and finally mixing and mastering their complete track right from the comfort and convenience of their own home. Further, they can do it for only a fraction of the cost! A modern beat making application for hip hop production can be purchased on the web for less than $30 USD.

Amazingly, for this incredibly low price even the beginning producer can get their hands on the most prized functions and tricks. In addition, having access to comprehensive online tutorials and a support networks means you can instantly begin producing your own music today even if you do not have any knowledge of laying down hip hop beats.

Obviously, this is causing quite a power shift in the industry as artists gain more control. Still though, there are a few fundamentals to hip hop music production that every newbie hip hop self-producer needs to know.

1. The first thing you should know is that the drum beat is the most fundamental component of your track. The complexity and pace of the drum beat dictates what speed and impact the entire production will have. Everything is supported by the drums. It is recommended that you keep them as simple as possible when starting or you will likely run into problems!

2. The second consideration is where to get your drum beats from. They can be downloaded, sampled from online sources, created by a drum beat maker, or you can create them yourself own your own beat making application. This can take some skill though so many musicians often begin with a download then move up to creating their own beats.

3. Finally, start with the basics then increase the complexity gradually. If you want to learn hip hop music production, this is the best way. Once you are happy with your drum beat, you need to develop the percussion and sampling elements of your song. You need both to add emphasis to your sound and create a great work of art.

Interested in producing your own tracks? Looking for a way into this amazing industry so you can do what you love? There are now lots of options for everyone. You have to start somewhere though. So get your hands on a great beat making application.

One of the most popular tools on the market is Sonicproducer. This application gives you an affordable way to get your hands on the best features and gets amazing results for anyone from the complete beginner to the seasoned pro.

Produce Hip-Hop Music - Tips to Get Clear Vocal and Sound Effects

Unlike rock music where the vocals blend into the music, Hip-Hop Music needs clear vocal and sound effects. These effects are possible, when the rhythmic vocal style usually called rap has backing beats accompaniment.

To get clear vocal effects, it is better to manage the beat and the vocals separately. If you create separate groups and provide a separate group bus in the sequencer for the beats and vocals, you could connect all the instruments into the beat group and make a separately recording for the instrumental tracks.

A fine-tune setting for the perfect balance between the beat and vocals is possible, if during the recording of the vocal tracks you connect the microphone to the vocal group separately. A wider range of sound effects for your Hip-Hop style is also possible, if you isolate every element separately. The result is clear sound effects for the listeners. You could not get a sound balance, when for example you record all the drums in one track.

For adding interesting sound effects such as a slap back echo, you could record all snares in one track. Good snare sounds are important for a good beat, soul of the music. The snare beat is the main beat that you clap intuitively in the pattern. To program your patterns and make them interesting and danceable, you need to learn the sound of the different drum parts. The hi hats usually keep the timing and add syncopation. For a very unsteady, syncopated style, hi hats could completely change what the beat sounds like.

To create the correct sound effect, it is very important that the bass drum keep the rhythm of the melody and bass line. A tempo of 80-90 bpm is an ideal tempo. You can adjust the tempo until the vocals are added using MIDI samplers and create the drum patterns at a very slow speed. Later you could increase the speed to match the ideal tempo. To learn more about Hip-Hop sound effects, recording, tracking vocals or music mixing always listen carefully to the applied effects of the recording tracks.
