Brockport shooting: Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy, woman injured

Brockport shooting: Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy, woman injured

A suspected gunman is in custody after a shooting west of the SUNY Brockport College and the Brockport Central School campus. It happened around 1:20 p.m.

Officials from Strong Hospital have confirmed that they are treating a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy for a non-life-threatening injury to the right leg and a woman for a non-life-threatening injury to the right shoulder.

The SUNY campus and Brockport Central Schools were on lockdown, but that lockdown has since been lifted.

The Brockport middle school and high school students are being dismissed at 4p.m. Elementary students will be released at approximately 4:45 p.m.  Parents are being discouraged from picking up their children at this time due to the volume of traffic around campus. All afternoon and evening events are cancelled.

A portion of Route 31, and several streets in that area are closed. We have a crew in Brockport and we'll have the latest as soon as it becomes available.
