CHICAGO IL – On Tuesday, November 24th 2009, We Are Change Chicago attended a book signing with former vice president Al Gore, at the Borders Bookstore on 150 N. State Street.

The previous Thursday, news had begun to circulate that hacked documents and communications from the University of East Anglia's Hadley Climate Research Unit (CRU) had been published to the internet. The information revealed how top scientists conspired to falsify data in the face of declining global temperatures in order to prop up the premise that man-made factors are driving climate change. To ensure the public that the media and Al Gore are aware of the facts that prove global warming to be a hoax, patriots from WAC Chicago marched to the book signing. Scattered throughout a crowd of a few hundred were members of WAC Chicago ready to ask Al Gore what he thought about 'ClimateGate.'

First up was Saad Ali. As he approached Gore, he peacefully and respectably asked, "Sir, can you comment on the emails and documents that were hacked [ClimateGate] that reveal… that the research was a fraud and that it was all manipulated?" Gore, with an evil smirk, claimed that "he never read them." By the look on his face and his stutter, it became quite clear that Gore was extremely uncomfortable with the question, so he quickly glared towards his security. The agents grabbed and assaulted Saad, escorting him away from Gore for merely asking a simple question. The press took notice and started filming and snapping pictures of what was going on. A third day of unanswered questions about the car accident feeds unrestrained speculation and a PR ordeal for the golfer, who has released a statement asking for privacy.

Of all of the world's sports superstars, Tiger Woods has been blessed with one of the more idyllic lives -- a gorgeous wife, two adorable children, multiple millions in the bank, and an image of purity and excellence that transcends the sport he dominates.

But the image, and with it one of the sporting world's premium brands, was under threat Sunday as the mystery surrounding his one-car accident, just a few steps from his Florida mansion on Friday, deepened and as he continued to refuse to talk to authorities.

Woods, 33, broke a third day of silence Sunday with astatement on his website, in which he called the accident "embarrassing to my family and me" and pleaded for privacy.

"I'm human and I'm not perfect," he said. But, he added, "this is a private matter and I want to keep it that way."

His five-paragraph statement didn't fully answer many of the questions being raised about the accident. And Florida Highway Patrol troopers hoping to question Woods and his wife, Elin Nordegren, were told by Mark NeJame, a prominent Orlando criminal defense attorney, that neither would be available to be interviewed at the couple's $2.4-million home on Sunday. NeJame has also represented basketball star Shaquille O'Neal.

The accident that touched off the pressure on professional golf's No. 1 player began at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, when Woods backed his black Cadillac Escalade out of his driveway and then ran over a fire hydrant before hitting a tree on a neighbor's property. The car's front end was badly damaged and, according to police, Woods' wife said she used a golf club to break through a back window to remove him from the vehicle.

The transcript of a 911 call, made by an unidentified neighbor, said Woods was on the ground, unconscious but breathing. A private hospital ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital; he was released later that morning. His injuries included cuts on his face, authorities said, and the initial police report said alcohol was not a factor.

It remains unclear where Woods was going at that hour -- and why he has declined to speak with state troopers for three straight days.

Those questions have led to unrestrained speculation in a supermarket tabloid and on numerous Internet sites, where the claims have included suggestions that Woods was having an affair and that he and his wife might have been arguing over that. The National Enquirer published a story a few days before the accident alleging that he was seeing a New York night club hostess -- though according to the Associated Press, the woman denied having an affair.

Woods seemed to allude to that speculation in his statement Sunday, saying he was solely responsible for the accident and "my wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false." He added: "I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be." full story

Democrats in revolt over Barack Obama’s troop surge....

Barack Obama's much-vaunted eloquence faces the biggest test of his presidential career this week when he takes to the stage at West Point military academy to explain to a nation that thought it had elected an anti-war president why he is escalating the conflict in Afghanistan.

After almost three months of agonising, nine war councils and endless leaks, the president will finally make his views known on Tuesday when he is expected to announce that he is sending about 30,000 more troops. This will push up American forces to 100,000 and the total number of allied forces to almost 140,000, as many troops as the Soviet Union had in Afghanistan.

The carefully chosen backdrop cannot disguise Obama's dilemma. Somehow he has to convince his own public that the United States has an exit strategy and will not become bogged down, as it did in Vietnam, while making clear to the Taliban and Pakistan that it has not lost its resolve and will stay as long as it takes.

Obama's toughest challenge will be to win over his most loyal political supporters. He is facing a growing revolt in the Democratic party over why the US needs to be in Afghanistan at all when the real threat — Al-Qaeda — is in Pakistan, and over the spiralling cost in both lives and dollars. full story

Dr. Dre, Pharrell to executive-produce Game's upcoming album

The more-visible Neptune, who started off partnering with Chad Hugo to create a new sound in 1992, has found himself joining the legendary Dr. Dre in the role of executive producer of The Game's upcoming album,R.E.D. The Compton MC's new LP will undoubtedly also feature production from not only Dre, but the Virginia Beach duo, who were discovered by the "Godfather of New Jack Swing", Teddy Riley.

"Pharrell is my new favorite producer. I got a whole new respect for Pharrell and The Neptunes but especially Pharrell and how he do his thing. Hugo, who is a member of the band N.E.R.D. with Williams, MC Shae Haley and singer Rhea, who just joined the group this summer, may join his fellow Neptune on Game's album, but the Neps have been doing productions separately as of late (Hugo for his friend Kenna and Mos Def, and Williams for the likes of Shakira, Wale, and Nelly). But the two did work on Clipse's upcoming release and Common's latest LP. Their Star Trak label has just signed Alyssa Bernal.

Vince Young does the Unthinkable! 99 yd TD drive, Titians Win! VY Haters Lose!!

Last time Matt Leinart and Vince Young met up in a game, it was Young's Texas Longhorns and Leinart's USC Trojans in the 2006 Rose Bowl. Young put up perhaps the best bowl game performance ever in one of the most memorable postseason games in football history at any level. The Longhorns were down, 38-26 late in the game before Young hooked his 'Horns on two scoring drives to take the game and the national championship.

It's been a bumpy road for Young since then. After his great rookie season, concerns about Young's behavior on and off their field led the Tennessee Titans to go with Kerry Collins(notes) as their quarterback in 2008. Tennessee's 13-3 record seemed to validate that decision, and many supposed that Young was simply another spread-option bust who couldn't find consistent success in the pros. But with nothing to lose after an 0-6 draft this season, coach Jeff Fisher re-inserted Young as the starter at the behest of bird-flipping owner Bud Adams, and the Titans hadn't lost a game since. Of course, that wasn't all on Young -- running back Chris Johnson is on pace to obliterate most single-season rushing records, and offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger put together an offensive game plan that played to young's strengths (option football) and strayed from his weaknesses (consistent pocket passing). Young turned that around to a point last Monday night against the Houston Texans, making some solid throws in a more traditional setup, but what we saw when Young and his Titans lined up against Leinart and the Cards was otherworldly.

Tennessee was down, 17-13, with the ball at their own one-yard line with 2:37 left in the game, thanks to a punt downed by Arizona special teams star LaRod Stephens-Howling(notes). On the subsequent 18-play drive, Young converted three fourth-down opportunities and completed 9 of 16 passes for 76 yards and the touchdown to rookie Kenny Britt(notes) to take the game. The pass to Britt was especially encouraging, as Young stood and waited, went through his reads, stepped up, and fired the pro throw for the game-winner. It was a virtuoso performance by a guy who most people thought was done at the NFL level, and it puts the 5-6 Titans as the one sub-.500 team nobody wants to face right now. Young's 387-yard show makes him perhaps the most interesting redemption story of the 2009 season.

Tyler Perry gives NAACP 1 MILLION reasons not to criticize his movies...

GIFT IS THE LARGEST RECEIVED FROM AN INDIVIDUAL ARTIST IN THE NAACP'S HISTORY

Washington, DC (November 23, 2009) - The NAACP, the country's oldest and largest civil rights organization, announced today that acclaimed film director Tyler Perry has donated one million dollars, marking the largest gift ever given by an individual artist. In addition, Perry purchased several NAACP commissioned Jacob Lawrence lithographs and additional lithographs by celebrated artists Jonathan Green, Elizabeth Catlett and Sam Gilliam. Spike Lee gets Award from Children's charity Camp Brooklyn , while Tyler Perry gives NAACP $1 Million in hush Money.....

Famed Director Spike Lee will be honored at an auction to benefit Children's charity Camp Brooklyn this December.

Camp Brooklyn was founded by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who will present Lee with the 20th Anniversary Mickey Mantle Community Service Award.

The auction will raise funds for Camp Brooklyn, which gives children a chance to leave their urban environments, to learn about teamwork, loyalty, community service, responsibility, personal respect and other areas of development.

Lee is being honored for his ground breaking film work in addition to his on going community service in Brooklyn and the greater New York area.

Also being honored during the event is Citi Bank executive, Denise Arbesu. The fund raiser takes place December 9th at Mickey Mantle's restaurant in New York City.

Tickets to the fund raiser are $200 and admission is open to the general public.

All proceeds will benefit Camp Brooklyn efforts to raise funds to send over 400 children to camp in 2010.

African American Unemployment at 34% .....100% African American employment in the Whitehouse.

These days, 24-year-old Delonta Spriggs spends much of his time cooped up in his mother's one-bedroom apartment in Southwest Washington, the TV blaring soap operas hour after hour, trying to stay out of the streets and out of trouble, held captive by the economy. As a young black man, Spriggs belongs to a group that has been hit much harder than any other by unemployment.

Joblessness for 16-to-24-year-old black men has reached Great Depression proportions -- 34.5 percent in October, more than three times the rate for the general U.S. population. And last Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that unemployment in the District, home to many young black men, rose to 11.9 percent from 11.4 percent, even as it stayed relatively stable in Virginia and Maryland.

His work history, Spriggs says, has consisted of dead-end jobs. About a year ago, he lost his job moving office furniture, and he hasn't been able to find steady work since. This summer he completed a construction apprenticeship program, he says, seeking a career so he could avoid repeating the mistake of selling drugs to support his 3-year-old daughter. So far the most the training program has yielded was a temporary flagger job that lasted a few days.

"I think we're labeled for not wanting to do nothing -- knuckleheads or hardheads," said Spriggs, whose first name is pronounced Dee-lon-tay. "But all of us ain't bad."

Construction, manufacturing and retail experienced the most severe job losses in this down economy, losses that are disproportionately affecting men and young people who populated those sectors. That is especially playing out in the District, where unemployment has risen despite the abundance of jobs in the federal government.

Traditionally the last hired and first fired, workers in Spriggs's age group have taken the brunt of the difficult economy, with cost-conscious employers wiping out the very apprenticeship, internship and on-the-job-training programs that for generations gave young people a leg up in the work world or a second chance when they made mistakes. Moreover, this generation is being elbowed out of entry-level positions by older, more experienced job seekers on the unemployment rolls who willingly trade down just to put food on the table.

The jobless rate for young black men and women is 30.5 percent. For young blacks -- who experts say are more likely to grow up in impoverished racially isolated neighborhoods, attend subpar public schools and experience discrimination -- race statistically appears to be a bigger factor in their unemployment than age, income or even education. Lower-income white teens were more likely to find work than upper-income black teens, according to the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University, and even blacks who graduate from college suffer from joblessness at twice the rate of their white peers.

It is official one of the NBA's greatest players and scorers ever has retired. Allen Iverson told Stephen A. Smith of ESPN today that he is retiring from the NBA. Forget the unfair ending he had to go through but lets remember this legendary career. He was 6 feet tall but was a beast on the court . Iverson will probably go down as one of the 25 greatest players ever. He accomplished so many great things in the NBA, things that guys like Carmelo and LeBron dream about. It all started in the summer of 1996 when the Philadelphia Sixers drafted the 6 foot Iverson from Georgetown University with the first overall pick.

- An amazing 24,020 career points, 5,522 career points and 1965 steals.

The days in Philly when this guy would amaze the world by dropping 50 than running around the Wachovia Center with his hand to his ear as the crowd chants his name.

People are going to remember how Allen Iverson changed the game forever and how he even changed some of the world. He was arguably the most hated but was also the most loved athlete in the world. He inspired kids all over the world. He inspired today's NBA superstars and the future superstars to come. Before Iverson not many players had cornrows and tattoos and not many people dressed in baggy clothes before games. AI started that. He started the hip-hop culture in the NBA whether they liked it or not.

He showed people in the world that anything is possible no matter what size you are or where you are from. Growing up in the hard streets of Hampton, Iverson was a star on the football field and on the basketball court and was clearly a super freak athlete. Maybe quicker than any player that has ever played in the NBA Iverson took games over and dropped 40 points at will.

Nobody will forget the night he dropped 48 points on the Lakers in the 2001 NBA Finals and nobody will forget the night he dropped a career high 60 on the Magic in 2005. Iverson averaged 30 ppg over four times in his career and he was always top 10 in scoring before he was traded to Detroit. Iverson played harder than any player I have ever seen. He played through all kinds of injuries and is arguably one of the toughest players ever. He had so many memorable moments in his legendary career .You could probably write a book about the memorable games and moments Allen Iverson had in the NBA.

College Students and Democrats preferred lighter photos of Pres. Obama over digitally darkened ones....maybe Sammy Sosa is Right!!

Researchers are making the case that a person's political views cause them to see with a tinted perspective.

Scientists showed undergraduate students a series of digitally darkened or lightened photos of President Barack Obama last fall, and asked them which photos best represented him as a person. The results were striking: while self-described liberals tended to pick the digitally lightened photos of the president, self-described conservative students more frequently picked the darkened images.

The more one agrees with a politician, in other words, the lighter his skin tone seems; the less you agree, the darker it becomes [Newsweek]. The study will be published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

According to lead researcher Eugene Caruso, they found that the degree to which someone saw a lightened photo as being representative of Obama was related to whether he voted for him a week later. That was true even after the researchers controlled for political views and measures of bias against blacks [NPR]. Caruso says their results indicate that the degree to which you see eye to eye with someone politically can alter your physical perception of them.

By controlling for bias against blacks, the study seems to indicate that race isn't the issue, but simply how light or dark a person is, though it isn't totally clear on that point. It also seems to buy in to the claim that Hillary Clinton artificially darkened an image of Obama, which wasn't terribly widely believed. Anyway, the research's most practical finding seems to be that devious political hacks don't need to play games with candidates' pictures because the voters are doing it themselves [Politico].

To see if their finding applied to politically ambiguous and unknown candidates, Caruso ran a similar experiment using altered photos of a fake candidate running for a board of education position. They also found that people shown darkened photos were less likely to say the would vote for the candidate, even if they agreed with them on roughly half of the issues. The researchers would like to see how the results of their Obama photo experiment would compare to a similar experiment with a conservative biracial candidate.

The world of celebrity boxing captivates me -- not the actual competition, which is a ludicrous and boring display of limp-fisted rejects so heavily padded they could survive a three-story fall. It's the politics that interest me. What goes through the mind of a Todd Bridges in the moments leading up to a bout? Does he tell his family about it, or does he hope they don't stumble across a flyer? Does "Screech" from "Saved by the Bell" put a trophy earned against "Horshack" from "Welcome Back, Kotter" on his mantle? And do promoters really need to file a lawsuit when one of them comes to his senses and backs out of a fight?

Apparently, they do. According to a wire news release, rapper DMX is being sued for $1 million following his exit from a planned Dec. 12 match against non-celebrity Eric Martinez. Thunder Promotions claims DMX backed out when he realized the outcome wouldn't be fixed in his favor.

Although I admire the integrity displayed by promoters inclined to employ Vanilla Ice, it's difficult to imagine a scenario in which DMX's participation has a market value in the seven figures. Thunder will forge ahead with the show, now topped by an MMA bout between Jeff Monson and Travis Fulton, and featuring Martinez facing Coolio in a kickboxing match. If you can find a better time in Birmingham, Ala., I'd like to see it.

The Smartest President ever! Isn't smart enough to end Bush's Wars...Obama Vows to finish the job....Democrats propose a "War Tax" to pay for it.

Rep. David Obey, a Wisconsin Democrat and the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, is the latest lawmaker to call for a new tax aimed at the rich to pay for a troop increase in Afghanistan.

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag has suggested it could cost the government $40 billion per year to send the 40,000 new troops sought by top U.S. commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal. (The Pentagon puts that figure somewhat lower.) Obey tells CBSNews.com the cost of the war could "destroy the other things we are trying to do in our economy."

n interviews with CBS News and ABC News, the Wisconsin lawmaker said that he favors a "war surtax" in which high-earners pay five percent of their incomes and lower-earners pay a smaller percentage, down to one percent.

"What we are saying is if this war is worth fighting, then it is worth paying for," Obey said on Monday's edition of CBSNews.com's "Washington Unplugged." (Watch at left.)

"We would impose a one percent surtax on anyone with taxable income that would rise to about two percent if you are making roughly $200,000 dollars, and once you get up into the stratasphere in terms of four or five hundred thousand dollars in income the surtax would be higher than that," he said. "Whatever the cost of the war is would be paid forthrough that tax. Because if we don't do that that war will bleed every dollar in the budget away from any other initiative and it will block us from making the investments we need to make in our own economy."

Last week, Michigan Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, called for an "additional income tax to the upper brackets, folks earning more than $200,000 or $250,000" to pay for a troop increase.

"They have done incredibly well," Levin said of the wealthy, "and I think that it's important that we pay for it if we possibly can."

President Obama is expected to announce his new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan in the coming weeks. He plans to again meet with his national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan this evening.

While Congressional Republicans largely support a potential troop serge, many members of the president's own party are more skeptical. They argue that the president is considering deepening U.S. involvement in an expensive and ill-defined mission.

Obey and Levin's comments are the latest indications that a fierce intra-party battle could take place should the president move to add to the 70,000 U.S. troops already fighting in Afghanistan. Full Story

MACON — A Macon area third-grader was suspended from school after he pointed a toy gun at a parent while walking home from school Thursday.

The Ingram-Pye third-grader is awaiting a hearing to determine whether he should be expelled from school. School systems have zero tolerance policies in place when it comes to dangerous weapons at school, and officials have to take even toy guns into account.

"You have to assume they are real," Bibb County school Superintendent Sharon Patterson said.

She said the school system is doing its part to be proactive, but parents need to be more aware and take more responsibility for what their children bring onto school property.

"I think it's a snowball effect," Hasan said, referring to several recent incidents in Bibb, Jones and Dublin schools in which students or young adults carried real and toy guns onto campus.

Earlier this week, an 18-year-old was arrested and charged for having a toy gun and knife on a Bibb school property.

In Dublin, an eighth-grader was suspended for bringing a loaded handgun to Dublin Middle School.

Also this month, four Jones County High School students were suspended for bringing weapons to school. Three students were questioned for having pocketknives, and a hunting rifle and bow and arrow were found in another student's truck.

At Howard High School in Bibb County, two girls were charged with having a loaded handgun at school.

"We need to make parents more aware to look into their kids' book bag before they go to school," Hasan said.

Sammy Sosa celebrates 41st birthday with wife and New Lite Skin! No one told Sammy that Darkskinned bros are In??

Former baseball slugger Sammy Sosa celebrated his birthday with his wife Sonia on his arm at the famed Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach over the weekend.

Sosa turned 41 on Nov. 12. He looks like a peacock strutting his new light skin around the room. His new skin has brought him a lot of attention since his public debut at a Latin awards event two weeks ago.

At first Sosa tried to deny the obvious. But then he decided to come clean and admit he used bleaching cream all along to lighten his complexion to the more socially acceptable whiter hue. Sosa said his new look is the result of a "bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and it whitens my skin some."

Some?

But did Sammy really use bleaching cream all over his body, which would seem impractical? Or did he get the injections like Michael Jackson did, which works faster in the bloodstream and gives him an overall even skin tone?

Whatever he used to achieve his results, it worked. He's obviously happy to be accepted into the white society in his community.

Police taser 10 yr old girl after Parents call the Police to help make her go to Bed.....

The local police chief in Ozark, Arkansas is standing behind one of his officers who tasered a 10-year-old girl who was refusing to go to bed.

The bizarre story is laid out in a police incident report obtained by website The Smoking Gun.

Officer Dustin Bradshaw was called to the home by a woman complaining that her daughter was being unruly and refusing to go to sleep. Bradshaw wrote that when he arrived at the home, he found Kiara Medlock "balled up in (sic) the floor crying and screaming."

After watching her mother attempt to get Kiara into the bathtub with little success, Bradshaw took the girl into the living room and threatened her with jail. That didn't settle things down. At some point, Bradshaw claims Kiara's mother told him to "taser her if I needed to."

Bradshaw then tried to handcuff Kiara. But he couldn't manage that either.

To hear Bradshaw tell it, he was now in the midst of a full-on brawl on the living-room floor with Kiara, a Grade 5 student. The 65-pounder was "verbally combative ... struck me with her legs and feet in the groin," Bradshaw wrote.

That's when he reached for his holster and delivered a "very very (sic) brief drive stun to her back with my taser."

Unsurprisingly, Kiara's struggling stopped immediately. Bradshaw then cuffed her and carried her to his squad car, since she could no longer walk.

The incident hit the news when Kiara's father, Anthony Medlock, took exception. Medlock does not live with Kiara's mother.

"I want to know how the heck in God's green earth can they get away with this ... If you can't pick the kid up and take her to your car, handcuff her, then I don't think you need to be an officer," Medlock told local Ozark 40/29 news. He said his daughter has shown signs of emotional issues, but she "doesn't deserve to be treated like a dog."

Woman loses Disability Payment over Photos posted to "Facebook"....

MONTREAL, Canada - A 29-year-old woman has been stripped of her disability insurance after her insurance company saw pictures she uploaded to the popular social networking site, Facebook

Nathalie Blanchard of Montreal has been on disability leave from her job at IBM for nearly two years since she was diagnosed with major depression.

But she stopped receiving disability payments in the mail after her insurance company saw photos on her Facebook profile showing her smiling and having a good time. Because of those photos, her insurer told Nathalie she was OK to return to work since she didn't appear to be depressed in the photos.

Blanchard depends on her community of Facebook friends a lot these days.

In February 2008, she says after 10 years working at IBM, her life started to unravel.

"I suffered anxiety attacks, and depression. I couldn't work anymore," Blanchard said.

In fact, she says her doctor as well as the company's insurance psychiatrist ordered her to go on disability insurance. And that's what she's been living on until they cut her off last month. Blanchard says she phoned her insurance representative to find out why.

"She said she had taken my picture from my Facebook. And she said that I'm not sick," Blanchard said.

She says the representative referred to pictures at a Chippendale event at a local bar as well as comments she made about climbing a local mountain.

Her lawyer is Tom Lavin. He is preparing a suit against IBM as well as the insurance company.

"Because there are no precedents, it's a free-for-all right now, and probably there are no rules or boundaries," Lavin said.

Lavin says the insurance company says its decision is based on a psychiatric reevaluation, though Blanchard has not met with the psychiatrist.

Insurance companies make no secret that Facebook has become a tool for investigation.

"We cannot ignore it," Claude Distasio, of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association, said. "Whatever the source of the information is, we cannot ignore it."

And so far the insurance company, according to Blanchard's lawyer, has not handed over its reevaluation report.

"I don't understand why I gave all my life to IBM to get what I get now," Blanchard said.

IBM has not commented on this case.

Top High School Player in Texas is the Son of former Dallas Cowboy....

There is only so much the father can say about his son's football skills as he cautiously maneuvers through an NCAA minefield of bylaw subparagraphs and potential recruiting violations.

"You know, as a recruiter I can't really talk about him," Jim Jeffcoat was saying over the telephone from his assistant coach's office at the University of Houston. "But as a father, I can tell you that I would guess he is exactly what this school is looking for."

A hearty laugh punctuated the words of the man known in college football recruiting circles these days as Jackson Jeffcoat's father. He knows NCAA rules are very specific about what college recruiters can say about high school players. They've been legislated into silence about anything more than the fact they know the kid exists and their school has an interest.

And here is the piece de resistance in the Jim-Jackson, father-son, recruiter-recruit tale: Jackson Jeffcoat just may be the best high school player in the country. ESPN ranks Jackson the nation's No. 1 recruit. To be fair, Rivals.com, another respected ranker of recruits, is not quite as impressed. It rates Jackson, a senior defensive end at Plano West, only at No. 5.

But even the powerful enforcer of college football rules knows it can't legislate the speech of a man who has changed his son's diapers, watched him take his first steps, helped with homework, fussed to make that tie look just right on prom night and taught him a thing or two about technique when exploding toward a quarterback.

And Jim Jeffcoat, who earned two Super Bowl rings with the Cowboys and played 15 stellar seasons as a defensive end in the NFL, delights in talking about his son.

After all, Jackson is a 6-5, 235-pound blue chip off the old block. He is a student of the game, a good student in the classroom, a quiet leader on the field, always painfully polite off it.

"I am so proud of him," said Jim Jeffcoat, whose office is 270 miles south of his family home in North Dallas but who gets back as often as he can, particularly on Friday nights. "It's not because of his accomplishments on the field, but how he treats people and how they react to him. It's most important that he is kind and considerate. His mother has taught him well. There is a whole lot more to life beyond football."

Yes, but recruiting season is wide open on Jackson Jeffcoat. He has yet to take his first official recruiting trip but plans a bunch. He has narrowed his choices to Texas, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Arizona State and Houston.
