WORLD No.1 and defending champion Serena Williams has seen off unseeded Czech Petra Kvitova to advance to her sixth Wimbledon final.
At 6-5 in the tie-breaker, Williams served for the first set. She deliverd a 120-mph serve out wide in the ad that Kvitova could barely touch. With the first set in her column, Serena applied even more pressure on Kvitova's serve, breaking her twice to win going away.
Williams will face Russian Vera Zvonareva in Saturday's championship decider after downing Kvitova 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 in one hour, 35 minutes in Thursday's second women's semi-final.
Kvitova lefty played brilliantly at times, deftly mixing up her own serve and then backing it up with powerful groundstrokes that pushed Williams off the baseline. But she could not hold on to her lone service break in the first set, losing her serve with several unforced errors.
