Anti-War Activists Demonstrate Outside President Obama's Appearance At DNC Fundraiser

War protesters demonstrate outside a fundraiser where President Barack Obama is scheduled to appear to benefit the Democratic National Committee and the re-election campaign for Senator Barbara Boxer on April 19, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. The president has pledged to end the US combat mission in Iraq by August 31 with Iraqi Security Forces taking over full responsibility for major combat missions and to remove all US troops from Iraq by the end of 2011. The protesters are calling for the immediate withdrawal of all troops from both Afghanistan and Iraq. A poll of likely votes by the Public Policy Institute of California in March indicates a close race developing between Boxer and Republican opponents former Representative Tom Campbell, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Assemblyman Chuck DeVore. It is the first visit to Southern California by Obama since May and his third since taking office.
